Wing family collection, 1858-1955.

The Wing Family Collection contains manuscript material created by various members of the Wing family, along with some publications collected by them. Included are a Class Book, used by teacher H. Wing to record class attendance, 1858-1863; minutes of Annual School Meeting, 1893-1936, School District Number 15, Town of Kingsbury, Washington County, N.Y., Theodore Wing, Clerk; and the diary of Carrie Wing, 1895-1899, recording deaths, illnesses, visitors, local news, and weather. In addition, there are two other brief Wing manuscripts, along with several miscellaneous publications belonging to Wing family members, including Catalogue of the Crandall Free Library, 1893.

Collecting of photographs by Crandall Library evidently began through the efforts of Sherman Williams, who was a founder of the New York State Historical Association and an advisor to Henry Crandall. Photographs may have been collected beginning with or near the founding of Crandall Library in 1892. Others who were influential in developing this collection were Robert C. Carter and Arthur S. Fisher. The cataloging and indexing began in the early 1980's through the efforts of Bruce Cole. ...
